SUBJECT: Hill Country Weekend Ride
We would definitely recommend doing CR350, CR353 and CR380 out of Barksdale.

SUBJECT: 1,200 Miles - Austin to West Texas (Big Bend National Park)
Hill Country Motorcycle Rentals,
It is always good to get home after 1,200 miles, but a few more days out on that BMW R1200GS would not have been bad either.
As far as roads are concerned we took 290 out to Fredricksburg, 16
down to Kerrville, and over to Hunt, TX. via 39. Highway 39 was the
highlight of the ride, nice gentle sweeps and long straightaways with
beautiful scenery. Highly recommend hwy 39.
Out of Del Rio we took Hwy 90 to Marathon. Fun wide open road. Two
really good hotels in Marathon: the Gage or Marathon Motel. We used
these hotels as a base camp. Gage is a classic Texas experience,
pricey, but great atmosphere and a great restaurant and bar. Check it
out at www.gagehotel.com
McDonald observatory is on a great road with great scenery. All roads in this area are awesome for bikes.
Getting home (Austin) we came back on I-10 (80 MPH speed limit) cut over to
Iraan, TX and rode 190 to Menard, TX. down to Mason, Fredricksburg and
Home. A lot better than I-10.
It was a great 5 days and I appreciate you being around to facilitate
the bike. It is always nice to meet a person who is passionate about
their product. Thanks again. See three of my pictures below.

SUBJECT: Two days on a new 2008 KLR650 through the Hill Country.
Hill Country Motorcycle Rentals,
I loved the new 2008 KLR650 and had such a great time last weekend! Here's my web page with pics:
http://homepage.mac.com/youngsg/PhotoAlbum3.html
The first day I rode the route you guys suggested and it was great: Austin > Johnson City (the back roads past Fitzhugh Ranch) > Willow City Loop (counterclockwise) > up 16 to 965 to Enchanted Rock > Fredericksburg > Kerrville > Medina (the Kerrville to Medina section of 16 was awesome) > Camp Verde > Center Point > 473 to Comfort > Sisterdale > Kendalia > Twin Sisters > Blanco (Dairy Queen for lunch) > Henly > Austin. It was 312 miles, all old blacktop and a lot of nice twists. The Willow City Loop is great but watch for car traffic on the blind curves, and watch for cattle - the bulls too. Views are amazing.
The second day I made up my own route, which was also fantastic: Austin > 290W to Fitzhugh Rd to Hamilton Pool Rd - 962) > Cypress Mill > across 281 to Ranch Road 3347 on the left (you'll hit a stretch of dirt here and it's GREAT on the KLR!) > back to 1323 west of Sandy > Willow City (I did the loop clockwise this time and it was even better - especially for views) > Eckert > up 16 to Llano (I didn't find Coopers BBQ, but Laird's was great) > East 29 for a tiny bit onto 2241 up to Lone Grove & Bluffton > 261 down the side of Lake Buchanan (more awesome views!) > split off onto Ranch Road 1431 > Marble Falls. At this point I chose to take 281 south to the back roads north of 290 back to Austin, but I've read that 1431 east of Marble Falls is also a nice piece of road as it follows the Colorado River in toward Austin. My ride on Sunday was about 240 miles.
I'm extremely glad I rented from you mostly because of the suggested rides. I want to be sure you know that. Anyone can come to Austin and rent a Harley and cruise the freeways; it's the fact that you provide this service as a substantial part of your business that sets you apart - the fact that you made me a map, and sat down with me and sketched out details and talked about specific spots - that's what made this really awesome instead of just, "oh cool, I rented a bike." If I'm in Austin again and can take the time for some fun I will be contacting you, whether it's for an RT and recommended blacktop, or a KLR or BMW GS and more fantastic dual-sport routes! I want water crossings and more dirt!
All the best!
